At the point when Kameroun Mares was only 23, she discovered that she had intense lymphoblastic leukemia. In the late spring of 2013, Kameroun started doing chemotherapy to treat her malignancy. Soon after Kameroun started doing chemotherapy, she chose to get a puppy to help her through the medicines. Kameroun chose to embrace a sweet Husky little dog. She named him Semper Fidelis, which signifies ‘constantly dedicated’ in Latin.Semper satisfied his name—the little guy was exceptionally loyal to Kameroun, and he adored her more than anything. Kameroun adored him the same amount of, and the two started hobnobbing.
In 2016, Kameroun needed to go from her home in Florida to California for more therapeutic medications. Her flat mate said she would watch Semper while she was gone. One day, Kameroun got a call from her flat mate. She said that Semper was missing. Kameron was worried sick about her beloved pup. When she got back to Florida, she posted fliers everywhere and visited every shelter in her area. Later that year, she had to move back to California, but she kept searching for Semper. “[I] posted info about him on Facebook, lost dog forums, and pages and groups. Every day I waited for a phone call about someone finding him … His microchip is registered to me since he was 3 months [old] … yet I received nothing.
I was worried sick about him, and missed him dearly,” Kameroun told The Dodo.Kameroun kept searching, but she couldn’t find any trace of Semper. Finally, she decided to hire a private investigator to help her. The investigator, Ana Campos, figured out why Kameroun couldn’t find Semper even though he was microchipped. Ana learned that a woman had added her name to Semper’s microchip. The woman had then registered this chip to Petkey Pets, and Petkey hadn’t checked if Semper already had a microchip. The woman had then sold Semper on Craigslist for $200.
Ana was able to track down Semper, and she and Kameroun went to court to fight for custody of the dog. The judge ruled in their favor, and he said that Semper should be immediately returned to Kameroun. A police officer picked up Semper and brought him to Kameroun. The second Semper got out of the police car, his tail started wagging. He ran over to Kameroun and began licking her.Kameroun couldn’t stop crying as Semper jumped on her. She was so happy to have her best friend back! “I see him as extension of myself and my heart,” Kameroun said. “I am glad I have him back in my arms.”
Watch at your own risk of crying immediately. Here is the video and audio from Kameroun Mares reunion with her dog Semper today. 😭💙 and Ana Campos Investigations – South Florida. Please keep in mind Kameroun is just 26 years old. She was 23 when this began. For a young girl to have the wherewithal and courage to hire a private investigator and attorney is remarkable. Shame on Petkey pets for causing her to suffer and spend her savings on fighting for her dog back because of the role they played. He was stolen and sold by her roommate 2 1/2 years ago. She was told he was lost on April 30, 2016. But on April 11, 2016 the buyer added their name to his AKC Reunite "registered chip". They registered this registered chip on Petkey pets instead. Petkey pets did not bother to see if he was chipped already. A lawyer was retained. An ex-parte, pre judgment. writ of replevin and request for a 'break order' was filed. The Judge ruled in her favor and the Sheriff's office seized the dog this morning returning him to the person who always had superior ownership rights.
