Woman saves “injured dog,” but is surprised when vet says he isn’t even a dog

Andrea Athie was driving down a deserted road when she came across an injured “homeless dog” begging for assistance.

Andrea pulled over and rescued the skinny pup, only to discover that the poor creature had a broken leg.
Andrea realized the dog had been run over and immediately took him to the nearest vet clinic for assistance.

On the way to the vet, the grateful “dog” cuddled with and kissed his rescuer.
When Andrea arrived at the clinic, she was surprised to learn that the pup wasn’t even a dog!
Andrea discovered from the vet that the shy and docile baby was in fact a wild coyote!
The coyote wasn’t in good shape, and his health was deteriorating due to numerous internal injuries.
The vet clinic contacted a wildlife rehabilitator to help the sick coyote.
Unfortunately, despite his best efforts, the coyote succumbed to his injuries and died after 5 days in the wildlife hospital.

Andrea is heartbroken and haunted by her memories of the sweet car ride with the loving coyote.
It breaks our hearts to know that our wildlife never receives timely medical attention.
Let us be more compassionate to our wildlife and get them the professional help they require.
