Here’s a touching photo of Chief the dog bidding his owner, William D. ‘Bill’ Schiller, farewell.Schiller and his girlfriend Anne Marie Sibthorp adopted Chief, a rescue dog, in 2014.They had been inseparable friends since the beginning.
“When a person and a dog are really special, there’s a certain chemistry,” Sibthorp said.”They had a connection; they belonged together.”Schiller sadly passed over the rainbow and was laid to rest in Canton on April 13 at Forest Hill Cemetery.Friends and family gathered to say their final goodbyes to Bill Schiller before he was laid to rest.
They weren’t the only ones who were in mourning.Sibthrop knew she had to do something for his boyfriend, so she took Chief into the chapel for one last meeting with Schiller.Nobody could have predicted how tenderly the dog would say his final goodbye to his owner as Sibthorp led him to Schiller’s casket.

“He got to say goodbye to his father,” Sibthorp explained.”And that was significant.”She will never forget the tender moment in our chapel when Chief said his final farewell to his best friend.”He stretched his neck as far as he could and gave Bill a quick lick on the ear, and of course, Bill didn’t move,” Sibthorp explained.
“And Chief lay down by his head and just lay there for the longest time.”Seeing a dog standing on his tiptoes looking into a casket touched the hearts of this community,” saidSam James, director of the James Funeral Home in Huntersville, North Carolina.”Anne Marie (Sibthorp) sent it to us,” James explained.
