The following is a story about a dog named Nico. He is a deaf Dogo Argentino who was deemed dangerous and suspected of being used in dog fighting after visiting an animal sanctuary. Kelly Gibson of Puggles and Pitties, who rescued Nico from the shelter, had planned to take him to a vet to be euthanized when something extraordinary occurred.
Here’s Nico before and after he met humans who genuinely cared about him and treated him as if he were a member of their family. Nico’s photo in the shelter was taken by Nikki Audet, a Mutt Scouts volunteer. This photograph would have a significant impact on his life. Puggles and Pitties were drawn to Nico and decided to take a chance on the puppy despite the shelter’s warnings. Bridget Swan adopted Nico, as seen in the video below.
Nico’s story would have turned out very differently if it hadn’t been for her and the many kind people who assisted him. Because Nico’s life was only saved because people read and shared his story, this happy ending should encourage you to stay involved with your local animal shelters and rescues.
