According to ilovemydogsomuch, a dog named Powder was abandoned in the middle of the FloridaEverglades by his heartless owners.
The dog had no idea how to survive in the desolate wetland. He went days without food, and the harsh environment caused him to contract several infections. The poor dog realized that no one would ever find him, so he went to a lonely spot and died.
A visiting couple noticed the scared and confused Powder and approached him. They called the Broward Sheriff’s Office and assured the frail dog that he would be helped soon. When the cops arrived, they discovered that Powder was too sick to stand.
Powder was consoled by the cops, who gave him food and water and eventually gained his trust. They then dragged him to the car. They contacted Dezzy’s Second Chance Animal Rescue and handed over the dog for emergency assistance. However, Powder’s medical examination revealed that the dog would not have survived in the wetland for long.
Powder had severe, bleeding mange and internal infections. He needed eye surgery, but the vet postponed the surgery till his infections subside. There’s a long road of recovery ahead of him, but at least he is in good hands now.
Although Powder’s owner may never be found, it haunts us to think that someone purposefully abandoned a dog to die in the wilderness. We hope Powder recovers quickly and finds a forever home with a caring family who will never abandon him. Keep going, good boy!
