Rocky had spent countless days exploring a desolate construction site before being discovered. The 1-year-old border collie mix was terrified of people and regarded animal rescue worker Barth with suspicion.Rocky and Barth have reunited, demonstrating their strong bond.”Barth had been putting food out for him at the [construction] job site for a week or so before his capture,” Shirley Zindler, founder of Dogwood Animal Rescue, explained.”He drove hours to pick up a trap from us, then drove back to the job site and quickly got him in the trap.”
The man then drove the long distance back to the rescue in order for Rocky to be saved and taken off the streets.”[Barth] spent about an hour with Rocky at the time, who was still pretty scared and shut down,” Zindler said.”However, once he made friends with the resident dogs and felt safe, he actually settled in pretty quickly.”Rocky was waiting for adoption for weeks when the rescue pleasantly surprised him with Barth.
It was just the most adorable thing,” Zindler said.”By then, Rocky had come out of his shell and was approaching people, but it was clear that he remembered the friend who had fed him.”He waggled his tail, kissed everyone, and snuggled as close as he could.”
However, Barth had to leave after a while.Fortunately, the tough dog recovered quickly.”He watched him go, but by then he was comfortable, happy, and bonded with his foster family,” Zindler said.”As a result, he had a wonderful visit with his friend while also being happy and content in his foster home.”Rocky was adopted by a caring couple, despite the fact that Barth was unable to do so.In August, the former stray found his forever home. Rocky is looking forward to his new chapter in life and will never forget Barth’s kindness.”He was at ease with them and greeted them with wags and kisses,” Zindler explained.”We’re already getting updates, and he has a new best dog friend to play with next door.”
