Police officer stops to have cute conversation with adorable baby owl
|
This is adorable. That day, these two were clearly having a good time.On a sunny day, two Boulder County deputies were driving down a dirt road.Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until they noticed the tiniest little animal lying in the middle of the road. They weren’t sure what they were looking at at first. They got a little closer after that. They were admiring a baby owl.It was, in fact, a baby Northern Saw-Whet Owl.

The owl was obviously disoriented. The deputies wanted to make sure she got off the road safely, so one of them approached Owl.As the deputy got closer to the tiny owl, she started talking to it.
"Hey," said the deputy. "What's up?"
It was, in fact, a baby Northern Saw-Whet Owl.

When the little owl realized she was being spoken to by a human, she began twisting her head in the cutest ways. The deputy couldn’t stop laughing. The owl’s eyes widened as she said ‘hi’ again. She was clearly enjoying her conversation with the deputy. After that, the deputy stopped filming and she and her partner convinced the owl to leave the road. The owl took flight to safety.

The police department provided a bit of background information about the owl in their video description.
“A tiny owl with a catlike face, oversized head, and bright yellow eyes, the Northern Saw-whet Owl is practically bursting with attitude. It has a very sophisticated hearing due to vertically asymmetrical ears and different shape of ear openings,” they wrote.
“These Owls hunt mainly at dusk and dawn and most often use the “sit and wait” tactic to drop down onto prey on the ground from low hunting perches. Maybe this little guy is trying to set a trap.”

The video’s YouTube comment section was also full of owl puns. From praise and awe to jokes and quotes, this little guy captivated the internet.Everything about the video is fantastic, from the deputy’s serious demeanor to the owl’s human-like expressions.
