Owl Can’t Stop Hugging Man Who Saved Her After Being Run Over By Car

“Watching him interact with these birds literally brings tears to my eyes.”GiGi, a great horned owl, was brought to the Wild at Heart Rescue in Mississippi on her last legs one day.The poor thing was alone when she was hit by a car and suffered a dangerous head trauma.

“It’s beyond comprehension that this bird has survived,” said Missy Dubuisson, the rescue’s founder. She had a massive concussion, parasites in her body, and a condition called aspergillosis, which is similar to pneumonia in humans. She was so sick that she lost a pound of weight during her treatment, which is roughly 20-50% of her total weight.

The owl was so thankful to her rescuer Doug that she couldn’t stop cuddling him when he returned from his trip.

If anyone could have cared for Gigi, it would have been Douglas “Doug” Pojeky, also known as the “birds of prey whisperer.”Without Doug, recovery would most likely not have been possible.

Pay attention on Doug the bird whisperer as he carefully feeds the injured GiGi:

“This bird was one of the most critical we’d ever cared for.””In all my years of working with birds of prey, I have never seen anyone who has such a bond with these magnificent birds,” the rescue’s founder said.

They are completely familiar with and trust him.”You can see her trust in her face.””In all my years of working with birds of prey, I have never seen anyone who has such a bond with these magnificent birds,” Dubuisson said.GiGi had complete faith in Doug.

GiGi couldn’t contain her excitement when Doug returned from a trip to see his family.
She began to dance and could not stop cuddling him.”Watching him interact with these birds literally brings tears to my eyes,” Dubuisson added.”They know and trust him completely.””What you see in her face is trust.”
