Elias has been imprisoned for the last six years after being rescued from the brink of death, writes ilovemydogsomuch.
Although the shelter is not ideal, it is most likely the first place he has ever felt safe.
When he first arrived, he was overjoyed because it was the first time he had care, food, and security.
But nearly seven years in a kennel is far too long for a dog, especially when it’s more than half their life.
The joy Elias felt when he first arrived faded more and more with each passing year.
But why has Elias been in the shelter for such an extended period of time?
Valia Orfanidou, a rescuer, believes that dogs are overlooked at shelters for a variety of reasons, including their appearance, age, health issues, and behavioral issues, to name a few.
Orfanidou, on the other hand, believes it’s Elias’ looks.
The shelter had posted a photo of Elias on their Facebook page in an attempt to get his attention, but one person commented, “Poor dog, he’s so ugly, nobody wants him.”
But Elias is far from unattractive.
Unfortunately, his unremarkable appearance has made it difficult to attract the attention of potential adopters.
Poor Elias has seen every dog around him get adopted over the years except for him. But despite that, he is still a friendly, playful dog who just wants to love and be loved.
