After being abandoned at a shelter, Ellie, a one-year-old puppy, clung to the last thing left in the world: a large teddy bear.Ellie, a Blue Lacy dog, once lived with a family near Dallas, Texas (United States). In June, however, she was transferred to a nearby shelter.
Jennifer Jessup, an independent rescuer, claims
“They just dropped her off at the closest shelter after keeping her for months after taking the trouble to get her all the necessary vaccinations, a spay, and a microchip.”In essence, she lost everything she had ever known and found herself at the age of one in a chaotic, frightening environment where people make sacrifices to make more room.Ellie spent a lot of time cuddling up to the teddy bear that her former family had left with her because the shelter was a terrible place for her.
Because she was terrified, she clung to him.It was her one and only possession.
Ellie, fortunately, did not stay in the shelter for long.Florida-basedJennifer’s brother had been looking for a rescue dog and had contacted his sister for help in finding one.Jennifer began her search online, and with the help of TAGG Rescue, she discovered Ellie in a Texas shelter.
“I called a friend I have in Texas, and he said, ‘Sure, I’ll go get her.'” He then drove her from the shelter to the housing facility with her teddy bear, where she received a wash, all necessary paperwork was completed, and she passed a thorough screening.”Ellie was placed in a temporary foster home for one night before being transferred to Florida. The pup’s condition improved slightly once she entered a house, but she continued to cling to her teddy bear.
