Photographer Corey Hancock was out hiking a beautiful route in Oregon on Monday night when he came across a three-month-old young bear.Because the poor little bear was in such bad shape, Hancock knew he was dying. He approached him because the infant was barely moving and appeared to have been abandoned by his mother.
Hancock was not about to abandon the young bear to his fate.Instead, he chose to save him and carried him for nearly two kilometers, not knowing if he would survive. He even performed CPR on him at one point, and the baby took a breath. He was clearly struggling just to stay alive. He took the tiny bear to the Turtle Ridge Wildlife Center near Salem, Oregon, where he is recovering from dehydration and malnutrition. Many animal experts oppose Hancock’s decision to save the tiny bear.He should not have even touched the animal, according to them.According to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s standards, the tiny bear’s savior could have faced a $6,000 fine or perhaps a year in prison.Hancock, on the other hand, will not face any consequences for saving the bear, according to Oregon State Police.
Corey Hancock, a photographer, shared this story on his Facebook page.
