Skye the one-year-old Husky blend had been alone for quite a long time. No one knew how she wound up alone in the city of Palm Valley, Texas, yet one thing was without a doubt: she was not doing so great. Poor people canine was canvassed in mange, seriously underweight, and had a tick-borne ailment.
Skye was grabbed off the road and conveyed to a sanctuary with one of the most astounding murder rates in the United States. Since she was so debilitated, she was promptly put on the willful extermination list.
The shield Skye was at didn’t have the assets to administer to a wiped out pooch. Be that as it may, specialists at the safe house began to look all starry eyed at her, and they needed to give her another possibility at life. Thus they reached Rescue Dogs Rock NYC.
“The shelter is the highest kill shelter in the country,” Stacey Silverstein, cofounder of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, told The Dodo. “The protocol at the shelter is that medical dogs get euthanized right away because they don’t have the means or the space or anything to treat them.”
Silverstein immediately said she would take in Skye. A volunteer for the organization picked Skye up that same day. Skye went into boarding while volunteers looked for the right foster home for her. Soon after that, Skye went into a great foster home in Texas. A few weeks later, she moved to a foster home in New York.
This home was supposed to be temporary, but Skye’s new mom fell in love with her. She asked Rescues Dog Rock NYC if she could adopt Skye, and they said yes! “She [the mom] has got little kids and little dogs, and [Skye] just kind of fit in perfectly, like it was meant to be,” Silverstein said. “She’s an incredible dog.” Skye quickly adjusted to her new home. She loves playing with her three little terrier siblings. Skye’s fur grew back, and soon, she had a brilliant white coat. It’s amazing to see how much she transformed in such a short time! To celebrate Skye finding a new home, Rescue Dogs Rock NYC shared before-and-after photos of her on their Facebook page.
