A beautiful story transpired when a Detroit Police Department officer rescued a defenseless Pit Bull that was abandoned on a porch in the frigid weather.Officer Eric McCombs became a hero for his beautiful gesture of kindness when he rescued this poor soul from her cold condition.
It’s awful to think that someone would abandon such a precious creature to suffer in the extreme cold, which is too prevalent in the Detroit area.Fortunately, devoted individuals like officer McCombs ensure that stories of rescue and warmth continue to be told, even in the face of such adversity.
Officer McCombs was on patrol in the middle of the night when he noticed a poor dog out in the freezing weather, trapped on a chain that had been entangled on a porch. As a major dog lover, this cop didn’t hesitate to save this sad girl.
“I went up to her and said, ‘This can’t be.'” Officer McCombs told The Dodo, “I didn’t even think, I was just like, ‘I need to rescue this dog’.” On that particular night in Detroit, the windchill dipped to -20 degrees, creating an extraordinarily severe and frigid environment for a dog to be subjected to on a continual basis outside.
The poor puppy was not only chilly, but also extremely hungry. She gladly ate the delicacies they handed her, demonstrating her acute need for sustenance and warmth.Just looking at her, it was clear she hadn’t eaten in a long time.
She was both terrified and relieved when they released her from the porch. She hurriedly jumped into the police car.
Her ears were frostbitten. My boyfriend and I got her into the car, and we were thinking, ‘What do we do from here?’ We ended up having to take her to an animal shelter,” McCombs explained. They ended up taking the dog to Detroit Animal Care and Control.
However, one of the officers was unable to get her out of his head.
Throughout her stay at the shelter, Officer McCombs couldn’t help but wonder if she deserved more than a kennel cage. She deserved to live a happy life. But who was going to give her that?
Officer McCombs quickly realized he had fallen in love with this wonderful little child, subsequently named wonderful Pea, and chose to officially adopt her.
Eric already had one dog [Homer], but deep inside, he knew he had to help this little kid. “It was a special occasion. twice the food, twice the vet, or whatever. “I had to,” McCombs explained.
Sweet Pea had no idea how to be an inside dog when she moved into her new home. She refused to jump on the couch, bed, or even eat peanut butter. She only needed time, and she got it.
Sweet Pea quickly learned to embrace the joys of her new existence, basking in the love and care that surrounded her.She now enjoys her new ideal life, with her previous life on the streets of Detroit becoming a distant memory.
