It’s wonderful when a happy dog in a shelter finds a new family and a forever home, but it’s also heartbreaking to see a dog trying to find a home. Many sheltered dogs suffer from this issue, which is exacerbated when their pals at the center leave them, as they can get quite lonely.
Chauncey is the protagonist of the story. She is a timid but kind and lively puppy who was rescued by the Spartanburg Humane Society. She spent a lot of time there, watching her pals leave with their new families through a hole in the door.
The staff at the shelter couldn’t figure out why no one wanted to adopt Chauncey.According to Angel Cox, CEO of the Spartanburg Humane Society, Chauncey is quite shy until she gets to know you. So, with all the barking and bustle at the shelter, she just sat and watched the world go by.
They were all devastated by her plight, so they kept her company as much as they could. They walked her, caressed her, and gave her treats.Cox stated that she enjoyed being held and walked by the staff and volunteers. She walks well on a leash and was a volunteer favorite.
Despite the fact that she appeared to be alone, a family came to the shelter and adopted her. Chauncey spent some time with the new family and learned what it was like to live in a house.Unfortunately, it did not work out for her, and her new family returned her to the shelter.
Chauncey only got a second opportunity in life because of the Spartanburg staff’s unwavering attitude. The staff refused to accept her position, so they posted about Chauncey on Facebook in the hopes of finding someone new for her. After seeing the post about her, another family opted to adopt her not long after.
This time, she immediately charmed the new family, and they understood she was just what they were looking for.Cox stated, “She sold herself right away.” She is a really affectionate dog who won them over with her charm.Despite the fact that she appeared to be without a family, a family came to the shelter and adopted her.
Chauncey spent some time with the new family and got to experience what it was like to have a home.Unfortunately, for her, it didn’t work out, so her new family sent her back to the shelter.
Everyone at the shelter was pleased that she had finally found her ultimate home and was happy.
