As the saying goes, luck is relative! Some dogs only need a few days or weeks to find their forever home, even if it means traveling hundreds of miles. Others, on the other hand, must wait years!
Vanessa, a senior Pit Bull girl, has been “overlooked” in a shelter for 11 years, according to the most sorrowful story from New Orleans, Louisiana.Even though there was no reason for this lovely girl not to be adopted, no one seemed to want her… until her LUCKY day finally came!
This gorgeous dog was surrendered to Villalobos Rescue Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, by her family in August 2012. She was only a puppy at the time, and there was no cause for her to be abandoned – but it did happen!
Her parents simply decided they didn’t want her anymore, so they drove her to the facility and left her there one day.
Many adopters have come and gone since then, but Vanessa never received a second chance!”Vanessa is one of those who slipped through the cracks,” according to the VRC staff.
Months passed… then years… and nothing occurred! Vanessa, a once-beautiful, peppy doggo girl, is now an 11-year-old senior. But, even now, she hasn’t lost her sparkle, nor have her pawdorable eyes stopped glowing like they did when she was a puppy!
Vanessa has been regarded as the pawfect girl despite the fact that she has spent her entire life in a shelter! She is currently residing outside the shelter in one of the satellite locations with other elderly dogs, and she enjoys it!
Aside from that, she is well-known for her calm demeanor and training.
“She is completely crate trained… she is quiet.” Vanessa is simply outstanding,” the VRC staff said in her profile.
Vanessa loves spending time with people! Every now and then, a group of volunteers come to the shelter to spend some time with the dogs, and Vanessa really seems to enjoy it! Aside from her regular caretakers, she’s just a sweetheart to everyone!
And she adores the company of dogs! Sure, she’s a little old for endless games and frolicking in dog parks, but she still enjoys spending time with her friends. She’s always been a sweetheart!
Nonetheless, her favorite time of day is most likely spent relaxing in a comfy doggo bed inside the house. She would always prefer a nice, indoor afternoon over an outside adventure!
Just as it appeared that this adorable Pittie girl would spend the rest of her life in a shelter, her owner appeared! The VRC team reported that Vanessa had been adopted by one of their past adopters after re-posting about her on their official Facebook page in July.
After all this time, a big-hearted man with a lot of experience in this field has finally arrived, and Vanessa couldn’t be happier! She has finally found what she has been yearning for since that hot August day 11 years ago: a warm house and a loving family who would accept her for who she is. And she’s absolutely the cutest little thing!
