What would you do to save the life of your pet? Many pet owners have pulled together enough money to cover even the most expensive vet expenses if it means keeping their favorite friend alive. One man just faced a $20,000 vet bill to rescue his pet dog, and he was willing to sell his house to make it happen. But, happily, a miracle occurred.
Jaxon Feeley of Wigan, England, has a 2-year-old Weimaraner named Rambo, and last month he went through every dog owner’s worst nightmare when the young dog became gravely ill.”She began vomiting throughout the night over 30 times and by Saturday morning we were in the emergency vets,” Feeley reported in an email.Rambo had gone into hypovolemic shock, and also had gastroenteritis.
The dog was in intensive care for many days, and while her condition stabilized, her medical expenditures quickly began to mount.
“Rambo’s insurance paid out up to £6500.” “After one week in care, her bill has risen to £11,500,” Feeley wrote. “It’s unclear how long Rambo will need to stay at the vets, but intensive care costs around £1000 per day.” If the worst happens and Rambo requires extensive surgery, I need to be able to cover the cost of this as well as the aftercare for my beautiful baby daughter.”
Despite the exorbitant expense, Feeley stated that he would go to any length to supply his beloved cat with the attention she requires, even if it meant selling his own home to do so.”There was no way in hell I was ever going to give up on this gorgeous girl, she is just a little baby, with a want to live and be happy with her big brother Rocky and the Feeleys,” the owner of the property said.
He didn’t have to, thanks to the goodwill of others. He set up a GoFundMe site and told the story of Rambo, and many people were inspired to donate. It raised far more than Feeley could have imagined: as of this writing, the fundraiser has raised more than £25,000, more than tripling the initial £10,000 objective.
Feeley had even better news: Rambo’s condition improved to the point where she could finally return home, he said in a February 4 update.”Over the last three days, Rambo has performed a miracle; hour by hour, she has increased her oxygen efficiency, begun eating and drinking, her lungs are gradually recovering, and we have begun to see that beautiful little personality resurface.”
She got into such a routine of seeing me for 10 minutes every 4 hours that she knew which part of the waiting area to look for me in.”Feeley and Rambo are finally together at home, and thanks to the generosity of strangers, they will be able to pay any treatment Rambo requires.”Words cannot express how grateful I am for everyone’s love, support, and donations over the last two weeks.” “It means more to me than you will ever know,” he wrote.
