I recently read somewhere that saving dogs is 50% sadness and 50% relief, and I think that’s a very true assessment. When individuals see abandoned or stray animals for the first time, they feel true grief because so many canines are suffering in this way, and they want to save them all.
The other half of the feeling is relief when you realize a rescued puppy is finally secure and has a good future with a new home. These are the most precious moments for any pet owner, and in this article, we will discuss one such rescue story in which a dog was saved from euthanasia and given a second chance by a loving guy.
Nowadays, many owners surrender their pets and have them euthanized because their medical problems become too expensive to treat. Gregory, the Beagle, was no exception. He was about to be executed when a man named Joe Kirk rushed to his aid. He saved him only two days before he was to be euthanized. Joe and his wife, Schenley, run a non-profit animal rescue group called Hound Rescue and Animal Sanctuary, so this was the finest possible conclusion. It is situated in Findlay, Ohio, and it is dedicated to finding new homes for neglected animals as well as providing foster care for older and unadoptable canines.
Gregory is one thankful and appreciative Beagle, according to Schenley in a Facebook statement. He is SURE he is SAFE!
He is Heartworm Positive and will be treated, but he knows he is in good hands! We will get him healthy and give him all the love he deserves, as well as a bright future!
When he was finally secure and in the Kirks’ care, they took him to a veterinarian and treated his heartworm illness.Gregory didn’t have to wait long following his therapy because he was placed on the adoption waiting list.
A family came to the door and said they wanted to adopt him. He was taken to his forever home a short time after. He is now with his new family and is having fun with them and his new beagle brother.
Schenley stated beautifully, “We are frequently asked how many dogs we have saved.” We have saved one more, is the answer that usually springs to mind. One more dog is safe and will receive all of the love and respect they deserve.
Another dog will be fed correctly and receive necessary veterinary care. Another dog will find a wonderful forever home. There is no better sensation or anything more gratifying in life.
If there’s one thing we can take away from this story, it’s that a little kindness goes a long way with dogs and that there’s always more you can do to aid those in need.
