Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue regularly gets calls about dogs needing help, but this one puppy needed help fast if she was getting to survive. After receiving an emergency call, the animal rescuers immediately reached bent the Detroit local department 6th Precinct for help in saving the pup.
What they found was shocking – a small young puppy covered in feces sitting inside a wire crate dumped outside.
Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue writes on Facebook: “This evening we received an urgent call regarding a puppy outside during a wire crate covered in feces. Our crew immediately reached bent our friends at the Detroit local department 6th Precinct for assistance and within minutes that they had gotten to the situation and secured the puppy for us.”‘
It was clear upon lifting “Bessie” out of the crate that the poor puppy had been starved and was severely malnourished.
Officers gently cuddled the puppy and wrapped her during a warm blanket before handing her over to the Detroit Pit Crew who rushed her to an emergency veterinary hospital for care.
Detroit Pit Crew is so thankful for “the heroes at DPD who go above and beyond for the pups.”
Once at the hospital, Detroit Pit Crew shared news on Bessie’s condition the subsequent day and revealed her condition is extremely poor.
“Her body condition is terrible as she is around 6 months old and weighed in at 14 pounds,” the rescuers write. “We rushed her to an emergency veterinary hospital last night where she tested negative for parvo and biopsy results showed that she was dehydrated with a high white bloodcell count.”
Clearly, despite her awful ordeal Bessie is feeling better even after only one night of care. She looks alert and hopeful in one among the photos taken at the hospital.
Presently, Bessie’s health are going to be monitored and she or he will continue together with her medical treatment. Detroit Pit Crew writes, “We are happy to report that overall Bessie is doing better today and she or he is looking forward to her new better life.”
