Country music star and two-time Grammy winner Miranda Lambert has announced sad news. Her precious dog, Jessi, has gave up the ghost at 13 ½ years old. She shared the news on Instagram, writing, “Today we had to mention goodbye to our sweet Jessi.”
The loss comes just 9 months after the passing of Jessi’s littermate, Waylon. Lambert and her mother found Jessi and Waylon on an Oklahoma roadside within the middle of a sleet storm in 2008 when the pair was just six-weeks-old
Jessi and Waylon went on to become the inspiration behind the MuttNation Foundation, a rescue founded by Lambert and her mom in 2009 and dedicated to saving dogs in need. Though her dogs are gone now, they’ve left Lambert with a heart filled with love and memories.
Driving down an Oklahoma roadway within the icy fall, Lambert never expected to identify a pair of golden puppies. Of course, as a dog lover, she rescued the pair, a touch boy and girl in need of a mom. She dubbed them Waylon and Jessi because of the album of choice playing at that moment.
“We were taking note of the ‘I am Jessi Colter’ album. That’s how they got their names,” Lambert shared.
Jessi Colter was wife to Waylon Jennings and, because of that album, both pups found their names while at an equivalent time finding one among the simplest dog moms around. But regardless of how amazing mom are often , dogs still need to go, and in her passing, Jessi and Waylon are reunited during a place of no pain or suffering.
“We lost Waylon last October but we need to have Jessi just a touch longer,” Lambert explained. “But the reality is that they belong together. They always have. i do know she missed him terribly and that we are so thankful to possess had

As Jessi left, Miranda shared, “We sent her off with the song ‘Storms Never Last’ from an equivalent record she heard playing the primary time I put her in my truck.”

After their rescue and throughout their lives, Jessi and Waylon are cared for by the medical teams of Animalia Health & Wellness and VRSM in Franklin, Tennessee. Lambert thanked them for the “extra years we wouldn’t have had with Jessi and Way and I’m so grateful.”
