Duke the brilliant retriever and mascot of Bush’s Baked Beans has passed away after a fight with disease. This news originated from companion of the family who claimed Sam, the puppy who assumed the entertaining part of “Duke” in the ads. The family companion had this to state:
“Most know him as “Duke” the Bush’s Baked Beans pooch. His name is really Sam. He lived in Apopka with our companion Susan his proprietor. She prepares creatures to work in plugs. Not only hers but rather others too. Unfortunately, she needed to euthanize Sam yesterday because of a forceful malignancy he was experiencing. She is as we are devastated. Here is a photograph from his more promising times. He was an exceptionally unique canine to all who at any point knew or had the delight of meeting him. He is and will be remembered fondly.”
Bush’s Baked Beans issued a statement about Sam’s death on Twitter Tuesday. “We continue to be overwhelmed by fan interest and their love of Duke. The relationship between Jay and his beloved dog Duke is the embodiment of the BUSH’S brand and has been a part of our family story for more than 20 years. During that time, we’ve worked closely with several dogs who portrayed Duke in our commercials, including Sam. While Sam has not worked with us in years, we are saddened by the news of his passing and are grateful to have had him depict Duke. Because Duke is iconic to BUSH’S and so adored by our fans, we will continue to use him in our ads.”
