The students at the school often bought Negro cookies from the campus store to show him how much they loved him. Little did the students know, Negro was watching them as they bought the cookies. The clever dog noticed that the students were exchanging green paper for delicious treats.
Negro decided that he wanted to give this a try. One day, Negro walked into the campus store holding a green leaf. He gave that leaf to the store attendant and patiently waited for her to give him a treat.“
He would go to the store and watch the children give money and receive something in exchange,” Angela Garcia Bernal, a teacher at the school.
“Then one day, spontaneous, he appeared with a leaf in his mouth, wagging his tail and letting it be known that he wanted a cookie.”
The woman working at the store was amazed by Negro’s creativity and cleverness. She happily accepted his leaf money and gave him a cookie. In April 2018, one of the teachers at Diversified Technical Education Institute of Monterrey Casanare shared a Facebook post about Negro.
The post quickly went viral—people around the world were amazed at Negro’s cleverness. “When you first see it, you almost want to cry,” Bernal said. “He’s found a way to make himself understood. He’s very intelligent.”
