Lazarus is a 7-year-old Pyrenees mountain dog who has lived out his life in total neglect. His original owner suffered from a mental illness and was unable to take proper care of the pup. As a result, his fur just kept growing until the dog could hardly move. At some point, the owner called a relative for help with … a lot of things. One of them was Lazarus.
The family member called up the Big Fluffy Dog Rescue, who took Lazarus to the shelter and changed his life. The poor pup had been totally burdened with his sheer mass of fur. His overgrown coat weighted 35 pounds before it was shaven off – no wonder the dog could hardly move. After the painstaking grooming process, Lazarus was hardly recognizable. He was hesitant to show any affection to his rescuers, but it didn’t take him long to warm up to them. The Pyrenees had hardly any muscle mass when he was first rescued, and he wasn’t used to being able to move around. As time went on, Lazarus slowly began to feel more comfortable in his skin – especially now that it was over 30 pounds lighter.
This dog couldn’t be happier with his new life. He is even known around his foster home for his sweet personality. When he finally regains his strength, he will be up for adoption.
Until then, Lazarus is working on becoming more active. He is also rebuilding his faith in humans. He may have been let down once, but his foster family is determined to find this dog a forever home he would be happy to live in.
